Salzburg is small, perfect, and overwhelmingly beautiful. It sits under the MΓΆnchsberg cliffs, divided by the glacial turquoise water of the Salzach River.
It is famous for two things: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and *The Sound of Music*. But beneath the kitsch lies a city of serious culture, princely power, and dark alleys.

You cannot escape him. His face is on the chocolates (Mozartkugeln), the magnets, and the buildings. But the history is real.
Birthplace (Geburtshaus)
The yellow house on Getreidegasse. See the tiny violin he played as a toddler. It is a pilgrimage site for music lovers.
The Festival
The Salzburg Festival is the Olympics of classical music. Every summer, the best orchestras in the world gather here. Tickets are gold dust.

High Salt Fortress
The Stone Grid. π‘οΈ
The biggest fully preserved castle in Central Europe. It sits on a cliff overlooking the city like a white crown.
The Funicular:
Don't walk up unless you want a workout. Take the glass funicular railway. It shoots up the cliff face in 54 seconds.
Julie's Grid. πΆ
Locals rarely watch it, but *The Sound of Music* is why half the world comes here. The locations are real and they are stunning.
Mirabell Gardens:
Where they sang "Do-Re-Mi." Run through the Pegasus fountain and hop on the steps just like the Von Trapp children.
